XUE means “snow” in Mandarin. It is also my name. Here you can see snow every day.

A collection of art, craft, jewelry, patchwork, sewing, quilting, all inspired by daily exposure to Western & Asian cultures since ours is a mixed Chinese & European family. Read about our life amidst craft in this latest land we are living in, after 18 years of moving around the world. I write about making pretty things we love & about my crafty kids - whom we love. And my husband too, since he designed my website! He started it & my Etsy shop because getting started & all this technical stuff drove me nuts!

Sayonara soon

This is our Tokyo home where we have been living, these past 4 1/2 years.
Here is where I started to sew & collect gorgeous Japanese fabrics,
Each year, we look forward to the first blooms on the pretty tree outside our front door.
And when it finally blooms, fragrance fills the air.
This is also where our kids had their first "no school, it's snowing" day.
Soon, we will say sayonara to all these 4 seasons & our cosy home.
After 4 1/2 wonderful years in Tokyo, we will move to another city.
A city full of traditions, mystery & super incredible structures.... an oasis paradise.
Soon, my husband & I will fly out there, to find another wonderful new home for the next few years.
So where are we moving to? Tune in again, for this exotic city, our 6th residential city in 20 years of living abroad.

Good luck with the house hunt. I know exactly how it is; starting afresh in a new city/country, new schools, new friends. Done it a few times myself. One thing I'm sure of though, you will miss your beautiful garden. Best wishes Vreni x

Oh my! What a beautiful house with a yard and everything. I'll bet mine wouldn't take up even 1/3 of the yard!
I await the next edition.

Oh my you're actually leaving Tokyo! So does that mean a last minute fabric buying rush or have you really stocked up to keep you going till you're back in Tokyo again? Don't keep us in suspense I'm really curious to hear your next destination!
Happy Tuesday.

Loved your great pics. Beautiful home in all seasons. You were very fortunate to have such a spacious home in Toyko.
The Japanese fabrics are to elegant. I understand why you would want to collect them while they were close.
I am you newest follower. I can't wait to see where you and your family are going next.
Please follow me back.

I've been to Tokyo a couple of times but never seen a real house there because we were always in the middle of the city! Your house looked beautiful, I wished I could stay in Japan too. We just went to Hokkaido in Dec and the kids loved the snow so much. I know they will love the "no school, it's snowing" day! =)
