XUE means “snow” in Mandarin. It is also my name & my daughter's middle name.

A collection of art, craft, jewelry, patchwork, sewing, quilting, all inspired by daily exposure to Western & Asian cultures since ours is a mixed Chinese & European family. Read about our life amidst craft in this latest land we are living in, after 20 years of moving around the world. I write about making pretty things we love & about my crafty kids - whom we love. And my husband too, since he designed my website! He started it & my Etsy shop because getting started & all this technical stuff drove me nuts!

Blossoms & Dragonflies with Colourful Grass !

I completed another bag! This basket-styled bag "Blossoms & Dragonflies with Colourful Grass" was made for Amy, my closest friend who now lives in Sydney with her husband, Brendan. Amy & I go way back to first grade when we were 7 & we both have our birthday in September! She likes red & since she's normally dressed in earth-tones, this will add colour to her wardrobe! We both left our homeland to work & live overseas & the funny thing is at one stage, we landed in the same country, Hongkong!

And earlier this week, my Bracelet "Kaleidoscope in Red" left my Etsy shop & travelled to Utah!
Thank you, Christine!

A super, super day!

Hurray! I’m being featured by Heather of Azure Designs in her blog, since Wednesday so please take a peek. Besides making & working with polymer, I do create jewelry designs with various materials like glass, except I don't know how to make glass creations (not yet!).

I am sooo happy & got a little teary at this kind gesture by Heather. We have been corresponding like penpals & she is truly a nice person. Hopefully this will generate sales !!!!
Ok, I’m off to do some jigs around the neighbourhood! Have a great weekend !

Blue is the colour . . .

. . . of my latest Compact Mirror & Card Cases :

LEFT : Created with Heather (of Azure Islands) in mind. A truly wonderful person who gives great advice. My thoughtful penpal, from across the oceans. This card case is "Azure Dreams". Pretty like the jewelry in Heather's shop.

Below, Left : This blue card case was inspired by Linda, who makes pretty hair accessories. She loves swirls & you can see many swirls in her Etsy shop, Artful Expressions. This card case is aptly called "Linda floats with Swirls & Sparkles". Also, "A Genie in an Oriental Teapot". You can just see her emerging from the gold dust!

All these compacts & card cases are available in my Etsy shop if you feel like getting one!

May I introduce you to . . .

. . . more stylish Card Cases! You won't be whipping out dog-earred cards with these around!

And a Compact Mirror, for that crucial moment when you need to look even more gorgeous!
This one (top right) is "Dragonflies trailing in gold dust & sparkles". All, in my Etsy store.

And here's my card ....

Every designer/artist/seller should have one of these ☺ !
A pretty aluminium case to ferry your cards around, be it your namecards, their namecards, kid's photos, credit cards, discount cards, ID cards or anything that can fit in here.

Isn't it more stylish & organised to have them in this,
than to fish them out of your purse - like what I was doing for quite a while!

Do you like it? This is my first & I will be doing more, from flirty ones to serious ones !

Mamas all dressed up !

So with encouraging comments,
I finally dressed my polymer "Mama" pendants
& put a couple in my Etsy shop.

Hopefully someone out there will want one
for themselves or for a Mama they know!

There's Mama Loves the Blue Moon,
with a 2-sided pendant.
And Mama Loves Toffee, in Oval.

I hope to list more soon.

I also sent this out to Nagisa san - one of the most stylish Japanese woman I know.
Also one of the nicest person I know!
She bought Sakura Bloom, Red & Clear.

Mama of 2 !!!

This delicious caramel-looking pendant, was specially created for Yuka, a friend who gave birth recently to Freddy - a 2nd child for Henry & her, a little brother for Alice. As this turned out to be quite pretty,
I made lots more, for my Etsy shop, so that more Mamas get to have one, with none being too alike.

And this 2nd pix is ..... not a colourful Tic Tac Toe but our Easter Brownie Cake, which we made for the mama & her 2 children although Baby Freddy can't taste it yet!

Oriental Beauties on the way.....

This week, I got to know Linda, a fellow Etsy seller who makes & sells hair accessories - something which I never tire of acquiring, for Annika & myself! This envelope with a pair of my Oriental Beauties in Red, goes out to Linda while a few of her Bobby Pins are making their way to us!
Do visit Linda at her shop ( Artful Expressions ) for more of her delicate & pretty handiwork !

Another one leaving Tokyo !

Today, this envelope of goodies went off to Georgia, USA.
Thank you, Elizabeth!

I do love the word "Georgia" & I do like the Southern accent. Comes from those years of watching "Matlock" & "Designing Women" ! Plus, a couple of the of the nicest people I've ever known, live in Georgia !

Delicate Steps in Tokyo ...

2 years ago, Martin & I went to look for a new home, our first steps together in Japan. This was what greeted us, when we first saw the home we wanted. And again, this is what greeted us, when we returned home after a week in the mountains.

And back to my studio, after being away for a week.

This piece is "Delicate Steps in Tokyo".
You can see more of this necklace in my Etsy store.

She also wrote a very kind, warm, appreciative letter which made me smile, to know how much she & her daughter, like my work. So.....arigatogozaimasu, Monika! Thank you, Sarah & Debbie!

Yippee Day !

It's a wonderful morning! Kind Genevieve made my day again! She showcased me in her blog. Genevieve has a fab shop & I really like her berets & shawl pins. She featured my item in a treasury last week but it expired before I could save that page. Her webblog also makes for enjoyable reading!

And Heather...a new friend, a great penpal all the way from Ontario! Thank you too for featuring my necklace in yr treasury - all pure white yet memorable! You do such beautiful creations so it's truly an honour that you like something I made.

DIM SUM AGAIN ! So off we went again, to our favourite restaurant in Chinatown Yokohama. This time with fellow residents : Gloria (from Spain), Christoph (from Austria) & their son, Carlos (Niklas' classmate). An earlier post on our delicious dimsum meal had convinced them to do the same. So the 7 of us trooped into the cosy restaurant & ate too much!

How lucky to be featured ... twice!

A big thank you to lilypang, a favourite & talented Etsy artist from Singapore, for my first time on a treasury.

Was also in another treasury by Genevieve (from sewphisicate), an accomplished designer, seamstress & friend! So glad I found you in the Etsy world! Thank you for this honour, for your advice, for being kind to me especially when I was just having doubts about Etsy.

These were the 3 items featured but sadly, I didn't save these 2 pages before they disappear forever!
