So what do you do when you have a brand new sewing machine?
Sew up a frenzy, of course!
This is my first real quilt. Inspired by Keiko Goke, a famous Japanese quilter & fabric designer. We were lucky to have met her at the Annual Tokyo Quilt Fest & she even autographed her book for us.
Annika chose these fabrics & I made the quilt in 4 days - I do not know if this is a long time or not.
It's a combination of machine & hand stitches. I don't have the patience to completely hand-stitch any quilt so I truly admire those who only do hand-stitching.
I hand-stitched whenever I was in the car, waiting for my kids. I did machine sewing when at home. And there is fleece batting between the quilt top & the backing layer.
I love doing free motion stitching & so does my daughter.
This Bernina QE makes it so easy to try out wriggly lines & squiggles sewing through all thickness.
It works so hard that I stop to hug it every now & then.

Hi Xue!
Sorry you haven't heard from me - I have been super busy! Tomorrow we have an arts festival to attend - my daughter loves it!
I love all the quilts and beautiful things you've been making. I can see you love your new machine! :) Yay!
Wow! I am so impressed. These quilts are gorgeous. Four days sounds pretty quick to me.
Hi xue, I love the materials you have used in your quilt. I also like the way you have sewn your black bag with the little stitched flower in the corner. Glad to hear you are busy sewing and love seeing all your creations!
Your new quilt looks lovely, and it is not an easy pattern with the curved lines. You did a great job! The bags are adorable too, and the fabric of the potholders (?) looks like a retro print.
4 days for the quilt sounds really fast to me. The curves are tricky, did you hand sew the curves or machine sew them?
I love Keiko Goke's work! I fell in love with her style about 13 years ago when her quilts were on exhibit at a museum in New Zealand. I had never seen anything like them, and it changed the way I thought about quilting. Thanks for sharing! Your quilt is fabulous!
Thanks for visiting my little blog. Congratulations to your new Bernina QE 440. That was my previous machine and I really loved it as well. I just looked at your blog and saw that you lived in several places we lived as well. How do you like living in Japan? Must be heaven for all the wonderful art supplies. Will check back with you again.
Beautiful work... very colorful!
Thanks so much for visiting my blog, too!
How are you?
Those circles, did you hand stitich them?
Hi Xue, that quilt looks utterly gorgeous! You and your Bernina did a great job together!

Hi, Xue! Your new machine sounds wonderful... and the new creations you've been making with it are AMAZING! Happy Summer Days :o) ((HUGS))
It's beautiful, and amazing that it only took your four days to make a quilt with circles and hand quilting. Gorgeous!
I suka sangat itu bag biru! Is the handle leather? Cantik as usual :)
Wonderful! I LOVE the fabrics in the 2nd picture, (right hand to row), and the bag is so pretty... wonderful photo, too!
A lovely quilt Xue, the fabrics are fabulous! I just love the flower that you've free motioned on the bag as well.
